Mr. Denis Choinière, director of the olfactometry division at Consumaj, acted as a speaker at the “International Symposium on Emissions of Gas and Dust from Livestock” held in Saint-Malo (France) on June 10- 13, 2012. This symposium brought together researchers and engineers worldwide to share new knowledge and discoveries in the field of gaseous emissions and particulate matter emitted by agricultural farms. Mr. Choinière’s presentation entitled “Odor Control of Organic waste using state of the art olfactometry.”, allowed to present to listeners the basics of parsing olfactometric analysis in agriculture in accordance with the highest international standards in this area.
Presentation of the all new stationary dynamic dilution olfactometer Onose – 8 by Consumaj ® as well as an example of its use for the modelling of the dispersion of odours from agricultural livestock in the development of a plan for the cohabitation in urban/agricultural environment were also discussed.
ONOSE-8® is a stationary dynamic dilution olfactometer. Ideal for laboratories and research centres who wish to perform odor analyses. This state of the art olfactometer allows to quantify odors using a panel of up to 16 people. It’s easy to use and efficient software, Olfaware, as well as its various components allow the Onose-8® to accurately and quickly perform a variety of tasks related to olfactometric analysis. The Onose-8® olfactometer as well as the Olfaware software can be modified to adapt to the client’s needs.
The Consumaj wishes to congratulate three of its clients who were recently winners of two contests!
First place winner, Sonia Lalumière and Mr. Jonathan Christmas are the big winners this year of the competition of the Union of producers of eggsof Quebec (INCOBEC). In fact, they won the quota to produce annually 900,000 certified incubation eggs, which is equivalent to the annual production of 6000 chickens and 600 roosters. In 2009, Consumaj had also participated in the success of the beneficiaries of the first loan of quota to life: Valérie Jutras and Roger Naegeli, Sainte-Brigitte-des-Saults (see photo). This production is the least known of the poultry industry: there is only some 50 producers of incubation eggs in Quebec. This competition, seeks to encourage the establishment of new producers.
Also, Mr. John McOuat, of Saint-André-d'Argenteuil, was granted the quota for 5000 hens by the Quebec Federation of producers of consumable eggs (FPOCQ). He was selected at the final draw, after completing all the eligibility criterias. As specified on the web site of the Federation www.oeuf.ca, the goal of this program is to promote the increase of the number of producers, focusing on young people, and areas of lower poultry density. Quebec has approximately one hundred producers of eggs for consumption.
Consumaj is proud to have participated in the startup of two new poultry producers. We wish you many years of success !
